It seems to be a recurring theme with showbiz that the show doesn’t come together until opening night. For the Parent Preview on Wednesday, October 2nd, I was concerned that I wouldn’t get all of the dances in time. As a performer it really aggravated me because I knew last year’s show like the back of my hand but felt that this year I came up short. Yet, the Silvertones pulled it off. Chelsea Korn (senior), Jesse Panico (senior), Ben Muska (senior), and James Carman (junior) were among the fabulous soloists. We sang and danced our way through our show with modern music, something the Silvertones have never done before. Brooke Murray did a fantastic job with our choreography. Our show told the story of love and togetherness, and the opening number acted like a Greek Chorus. We performed Glee’s version of "Somebody to Love by Queen," "One Love" by Bob Marley, "The Chain" by Fleetwood Mac, "Rhythm Nation" by Janet Jackson, "This Is The Moment" from the Broadway show Jekyll and Hyde, and "Everybody Rejoice" from The Wiz.
Soloists for the final number were myself (senior), Paul McGroarty (junior), Ashlynn Mercer (senior), and Matt Dieterle (senior). The show has double-casted soloists, so be sure to catch us whenever we perform for the chance to see other students solo such as Kaitlyn Huesken (junior), Emily Krowicki (senior), Prince Frederick (senior), Thomas DiPaolo (junior), and Jayson Bullock (sophomore). There were dance lifts, new sparkly gold costumes, and different styles of dancing sure to please the crowd. I still can’t believe it was my last Parent Preview! Everybody rejoice, for the show went really well!
As far as our Pirate Assembly, I was pleasantly surprised with the audience’s reaction. Believe it or not, it can be nerve-racking performing a show as character-oriented as our pirate assembly. I felt the soloists did a great job and the set looked really good. Congrats to the Sterling High School Chorus for a swashbuckling good show!
